Mobile Pet Grooming Scottsdale AZ

We simply adore our furry little friends!

They’re part of our family and always will be. That’s why we take what we do here at Mobile Pet Groomers Scottsdale, so seriously.
While we are taking care of your pet, we will love them and pamper them like our own. We cover Scottsdale and its surrounding areas with our mobile grooming service.

We will take extra care in looking after your little loved one while pampering them and grooming them. We’ll work on their ears, fur and nails to ensure we get your pet as clean as possible.
We have the full range of tools and equipment to groom dogs and cats of all sizes and breeds. We always have a chat with the owner to find out exactly what is required and how they want their loved one groomed.

Once we know what’s needed, we can start the pampering process!

We always begin by spending a little time making friends with your pet and ensuring they’re happy and calm before the grooming process begins.
We always begin by giving their fur a nice brush, cleaning their ears, and clipping or using a dremel to trim their nails if they need doing.
We then give dogs a bath so, as to prepare their coat before any trimming and shaping work begins.  Some dogs can be a little nervous or skittish at this time, while others remain calm and relaxed so we always take our time and give them plenty of love and reassurance!

Your pet is unique, so we are always prepared to make sure they’re calm and relaxed with us.

We have a lot of experience, so we can work with all kinds of pet characteristics.
Once we’ve bathed and thoroughly rinsed your pooch, we blow dry and brush their coat so that it is ready for a cut.
This is where our expertise really with mobile grooming, comes into play to make sure that the cut comes is stylish and your pet enjoys the experience.
We always take our time around the sensitive areas like the paws and ears. Apart from a nice bath and trim, want each pet to have a positive experience when coming to see us. This is paramount during puppy grooming.

Dog Behaviour

Dogs of breeds that require regular grooming should begin the regimen early on, while they're still young and easy to teach.
This gets the pet accustomed to a routine he will follow his entire life. When a dog has been coming to the groomer ever since he was a puppy, we always find they love being pampered and really enjoy the experience! We go above and beyond to make sure your ball of fluff has a good time with a positive experience. We also do Mobile Cat Grooming.

Equipment for Mobile Dog Grooming

We us all the latest equipment and grooming lotions inside our vehicles.
If a dog happens to be aggresive, we can normally handle it with little or no fuss, however, if they are being particularly aggressive towards us, then sometimes it’s better to visit your local veterinary for all your grooming needs.
In special cases we can use a muzzle, but we don’t really like doing this as it can cause even more distress to your furry friend especially during dog nail trimming.

Meanwhile, if a dog is not safe to work on, then we ask the client to speak to their vet about therapeutic. Anything the vet can give to calm the dog would help.

Muzzling just increases the dog's anxiety, and we don't like to do that unless absolutely necessary. We just haven't found it necessary.

Tricks of the Trade

Some dogs will quiet down and allow us to pamper them during the grooming process, however, some don’t. So, with the owner’s permission we can resort to bribery – by giving them a treat.
We can always give them a treat and they will quickly catch on that they need to stand quietly! If they become uncooperative, the treats stop. It works pretty well during dog nail trimming.
Dogs catch on quickly when treats are involved! We use aromatherapy too, we usually have nice, quiet mood music playing and a lavender-scent, and we use essence of lavender shampoo.
Lavender has natural calming properties and it works well on us groomers as well as the dogs. During puppy grooming this works really well.

Bathing Your Pet

Is it best to bath your dog before or after grooming?
This is best discussed with us beforehand. We’ve worked with all kinds of breeds and so we know what works best.

With some breeds, it’s easier to brush out any dirt etc before bathing and with others, a bath will loosen the dirt and make it easier to remove.
Once any dirt and debris is removed, we can then move onto the grooming. Just remember to talk to us before you book an appointment, so as we can plan ahead for what’s needed on the day. Mobile dog grooming at it's best.

Standard grooming procedure
The standard procedure for grooming a dog is generally as follows for a non-shedding breed such as a Bichon, Maltese or similar.

We always like to include the following as a minimum while grooming your pooch:

·      A pre-clip if necessary. This is just to get the worst off and we will then re-clip after a bath and blow dry. The coat will fluff up after a blow dry so more coat will be free to be removed.
·      We then brush out any areas that have not been clipped such as tail and head
·      We than do a sanitary clip, (clip the groin and around the anus) and clip under the armpits and paws at this stage
·      After a bath, it’s a good time to do any nail clipping as needed
·      We then dry your furry friend with an absorbant towel
·      We then blow dry the coat with a hair dryer specifically designed for pets
·      Fully brush out any areas that are not going to be clipped
·      Do the fininshing clip
·      Do any scissor work such as around the paws, legs and head.

Dog Grooming

Brushing and combing your pooch’s hair coat is an important part of general pet care.
Brushing is a great way of bonding with them and helps to keep your dog’s coat in good condition by removing loose hair and preventing hair mats/knots.

Brushing also helps to distribute healthy natural skin oils over the hair shaft, promoting a shiny coat and helping dirt to slide off the hair.
This can also help to reduce the need to bath and therefore reduce the frequency of bathing.
Brushing and grooming are activities that help to strengthen the positive relationship bond between dogs and their owners.
Brushing should be a pleasant and comfortable experience for dogs and owners.

How Often?

How often to brush and groom your dog will depend on each individual dog.
Dogs tend to differ in their need for brushing because of their coat type and length also, depending on their recent activities.
If they’re running across muddy fields and swimming in rivers, then they’ll require more frequent care. Or if your precious pooch doesn’t like the great outdoors, then it makes life easier all round!

Dogs with short coats generally require less brushing and grooming compared to dogs with medium to long haired coats as these longer coats can get tangles, mats and debris trapped in them more easily.

Some very short-haired dogs may not need traditional ‘brushing’ and for these dogs, we may instead use a soft grooming glove to gently remove loose hair.

A grooming session should be made as often as is needed. Owners should monitor the condition of their dog’s coat, looking for any tangles/mats or dullness which indicates they might need a to book us for a visit.
Brushing can take anything from a few minutes to several hours a week depending on your type of dog.

As a general guide:

·       Smooth, short-coated dogs (e.g. Kelpie) can generally be brushed once every few weeks to remove loose hair. Dogs with short coats can still shed hair at times, so gently brushing them can help to remove loose hair.

·       Short, dense furred dogs (e.g. Husky). These dogs can generally be brushed once a week or fortnightly.

·       Long-coated or double-coated dogs (e.g. Border Collie). These dogs can generally be brushed on a weekly basis to prevent mats and to remove tangles.

Puppies. It’s important that owners take time to gradually train their puppies to feel comfortable about being handled and brushed on different parts of their body.
This helps to facilitate grooming and also helps to prepare dogs for physical examinations during vet consults. See Training your dog to enjoy grooming’ section below.

Not grooming your dog as often as required can have an influence on their health.

Mats and knots can worsen and moisture that is trapped underneath a matted coat and lack of airflow can predispose towards skin irritation and infection. Grooming is therefore a preventative activity!
If your dog has a lot of matting, we can safely remove the tight mats as they can be difficult to remove without specialised clippers. We’ll also examine the condition of the skin underneath and advise if any medications are needed.

"I love these guys. I have brought my shih tzus to their mobile unit twice! This second time they really needed some love with their haircuts. I grew their hair out for the winter and they were honestly two balls of fur. I asked for them to look like bobble heads, big heads and really short body cuts. The outcome was awesome. The service was great too! The doggy stylist in there are happy and are having fun while doing their work. Which is really nice to see as well. We will be back soon! Bella and Ommo say thank you as well. Stephanie M" -  Scottsdale AZ
